It all started with a desire to be in better shape, a few conversations, a blog (someone else’s) then a trip. Well it actually started with being born in 1968. That is beginning to be a long time ago and I don’t know when that happened.
I went into boot camp thinking I would do a month to jump start my program. Over the last few months I have realized that in order to stay in shape, I have to work much harder and eat much better now than I did at 30. Yes, I know every health article says that but I didn’t think it would apply to me yet. Uh, wrong! After five months of getting up at 5:15 almost every weekday for boot camp, I am in the best shape I have been in since I was rowing. I have lost 20 pounds and all most as many inches. I feel great!
For the trip, I looked at destinations all over the world; everything from Costa Rica, Iceland, Seychelles, Italy, India, you name it. I came very close to booking a few trips but for one reason or another every potential trip did not work out. I felt like I was trying too hard to create a memorable experience – pushing the proverbial square peg through the round hole.
I was ready to give up. I had not heard anything about Chen taking a group to China but recalled Master Chen that he was spending the summer in China and that my local QiGong instructor, Corinne, went to visit in June. After a few email exchanges, I had my trip planned. Everything just fell into place. This is the trip I was meant to take.
Chen’s villa is in the Hubei Provence at the base of Wudang or Xuan Yue mountains. While there I practiced Qigong, Kung Fu, and meditation. I knew this trip and my studies with Chen will give me some time for introspection and inspiration.
Did it ever! Things have been a little crazy and I think my friends and family may be a little concerned but I am on the right path. The world will never be the same for me and I am discovering more and more about myself, my loved ones and the world around me.
This blog started as a simple travel diary for one trip but now it is about my life, my journey, my adventures. This should be good…
